AWARDS | SCHOLARSHIPS

MERITORIOUS AWARDS and RECOGNITION
VJJA has a proud history of recognizing and applauding the day-to-day work and accomplishments of our juvenile justice colleagues.  Colleagues are recognized in publications and celebrated during “Probation, Parole and Community Supervision” week and “Detention, Residential and Correctional” week.  Read about past award winners and Scholarship Recipients, download a scholarship application, or view nomination procedures.
MERITORIOUS AWARDS - The Association recognizes members who have made extraordinary contributions by awarding Meritorious Awards in the areas of Community Service, Court Services, Residential Services, and Administration.

VJJA members in good standing may submit nominations. Nominees must also be members in good standing (except nominees in the area of Community Service),

For more information, Call for Nominations-Award Descriptions & Information or Email Recognition & Awards Chair

DUE BY: November 8, 2024

MERITORIOUS AWARD Nominations
ROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIPS - Each year two professional development scholarships are awarded in the amount of $500 each. Named in memory of Robert “Bob” Shepherd, Jr. and Rodney C. Hubbard, these scholarships can be used for academic courses, professional development, and to attend conferences. Whatever your professional development needs, VJJA wants to support your professional growth

VJJA members in good standing are eligible to submit an application following their second consecutive year of membership.

YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS - VJJA members may nominate a youth with current or prior involvement in the Juvenile Justice or Human Services system whose involvement exemplifies the importance of overcoming personal obstacles as well as the power of personal achievement.

In the Fall of 2012, the President’s Child Advocacy Fund was renamed in memory of long time child advocate W. Stephen Pullen. This fund provides scholarship money for a youth to attend an institute of higher learning, trade, or vocational program. The youth must show a financial need. Funds will be paid directly to the institute/program, not to the youth.
