Mike Morton’s Department
of Juvenile Justice career began in 1991 as an Intensive Probation Officer with the Norfolk Court Service Unit. Mike was promoted to Probation Supervisor in 1997 and to Court Service Unit Deputy Director in 2000.
As Deputy Director of
the Norfolk CSU, Mike oversees the work of five supervisors and 20 probation officers, as well as being responsible for the
coordination of all the CSU’s Information and Technology initiatives.
Mike is a graduate of
Prairie View A & M University, best known for having the longest losing streak of any football program in the nation (prior
to last year). He also holds a Masters Degree from Old Dominion University, and is currently an adjunct faculty member at Tidewater Community College in the field of Criminal Justice.
According to his co-workers,
Mr. Morton is a “swell guy with a great sense of humor; and if you ask him, he’ll tell you the same thing!” With an incomprehensible love of computers and a commitment to his work that he also
expects from staff, VJJA is proud to present its 2004 Meritorious Service Award for
Administration to Mike Morton.
